2019年12月4日-12月8日，由李春雷總校長帶領的蘇城外國語學校代表團對美國幾所友好學校進行了考察訪問。此次訪問旨在落實姊妹學校項目和國際高中合作項目，為我校國際高中學生沖刺美國名校提前搭建好平臺。
From 4th to 8th December 2019, General Principal Mr. David Li and his delegation paid a friendly visit to a few partner schools in the U.S. Aiming at implementing the partner school project and building the platform for our international senior high school students to help them get admitted into top universities of the U.S.
代表團一行重點考察了一所位于康州首府東哈特福德的IB高中——Connecticut IB Academy（CIBA），雙方達成了重要共識，并簽署了合作備忘錄。
The delegation focused their visit on an IB high school in East Hartford, the metropolis of Connecticut—Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA). An important agreement was reached, and MOU was signed by both sides.

雙方介紹情況 Introduction
東哈特福德區教育局領導和學校校長對蘇城外考察團的來訪非常重視，局長Nathan Quesnel先生和康涅狄格IB高中校長Kathleen Simoneau女士與李春雷總校長一行進行了簡短的寒暄，隨即進入要點交流。有意思的是，兩位校長都有20多年IB三大項目（PYP，MYP和DP）的實踐和管理經歷，共同的閱歷一下子拉近了彼此之間的距離。
Both the District Superintendent and the school principal valued our visit. After a brief greeting, Mr. Nathan Quesnel and Ms. Kathleen Simoneau immediately talked about the key points with Mr. David Li and his delegation. Interestingly, both principals have been engaged in PYP, MYP and DP for nearly 20 years, which largely helped to narrow the distance between the two parties.

全天日程安排非常緊湊。上午交流之后，Kathleen校長帶領我們深入參觀學校各類設施設備，并與我們一同入班聽了中文、化學、生物、計算機科學等隨堂課。
The whole day schedule was very intent. After the meeting, Ms. Kathleen guided us to have a campus tour to look at the school facilities. Also, we observed several classes such as Chinese, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, etc. together.

CIBA高中開設了DP中文課程，選擇該課程的學生人數竟然高達20多名，這也是我們選擇姊妹學校的一個重要條件。
CIBA high school also offers DP Chinese, with over 20 students choosing this subject. This is an important factor for us to choose our partner schools.

訪問中，李春雷總校長和一位來自福建的12年級的女生進行了交流，孩子非常優秀，從她選擇DP生物高水平（HL）課程就能看出，她告訴總校長，目前正在申請七所大學，目標學校就是位于康州的耶魯大學。
During the visit, General Principal Mr. David Li also had a communication with a Year-12 girl from Fu Jian. Her choosing of DP Biology HL makes it obvious that she is excellent in her academic learning. She told Mr. Li that she’s now applying for 7 universities in the US, and her target school is Yale University in Connecticut.

午餐后，兩位校長就合作協議文本逐句進行修訂。下午三時，雙方在各自團隊的見證下，成功簽署了《合作備忘》。備忘包括教師“影子工程”，確定每年教師交換項目；高中各年級學生浸潤式交流學習項目，以及課程開發與實施共享項目。至此，蘇城外國語學校與康涅狄格IB高中正式成為姊妹學校。
After lunch, two principals worked on the revision of the MOU. At 3 p.m., the two schools successfully signed the MOU, witnessed by the delegates from both sides. This MOU includes the ‘Shadowing Program’ for teachers’ professional development, senior high school students’ ‘Immersion Program’, and the sharing of the teaching resources developed by both schools. Till now, Soochow Foreign Language School has become officially the sister school of CIBA.

CIBA Mission Statement
康涅狄格IB高中——簡稱CIBA，位于康州首府東哈特福德，創建于1999年，當年獲得DP授權。該學區的一所小學和一所中學還先后獲得PYP幼小項目和MYP中學項目授權。
The Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA), a public magnet school, founded in 1999, is located in East Hartford, Connecticut. CIBA is an authorized IB World School. A primary school and a middle school of this school district were subsequently authorized to implement PYP and MYP respectively.

CIBA, among the top high schools in the U.S., has received numerous accolades for its rigorous curriculum and preparation for college and careers. It has been named the 31st best high school in the U.S. for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School, and a national Magnet School of Excellence. This year CIBA was awarded the 2019 College Success Award by GreatSchools.

Norwich Free Academy（NFA）建于1854年，在校學生2300多名。2005年被美國教育部授予“藍帶優秀學校”稱號。學校提供255門課程，其中包含22門AP課程和43門榮譽課程。AP課程開設了中文語言和文學課程，這一點非常重要。學生畢業后進入哈佛大學、杜克大學等世界知名學府繼續深造。NFA將作為我們國際高中重要的合作伙伴。
NFA, founded in 1854, has been named a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School. It is a pretty large school with over 2300 students. It provides students with 255 courses, including 22 AP courses and 43 honor courses. NFA students regularly matriculate at the top colleges and universities around the world, such as Harvard, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, and Cornell University. NFA will become an important partner with our international senior high school.

考察中，雙方就學校課程設置、分層選課、走班教學、學生每日作息時間、托福和SAT培訓等內容進行了廣泛交流。
During the visit, the two schools had an in-depth communication on topics such as the school curriculum setting, class election, mobile learning system, daily timetable, TOEFL and SAT training, etc.
該校擁有百年歷史的藝術博物館Slater Museum。全美只有兩所高中擁有自己的博物館，另一所就是布什父子的母校菲利普斯安多佛中學。
The school has a century-old Art museum—Slater Museum. Only two high schools all over the United States have their own museums, and the other is the famous Phillips Academy Andover.

Destination 3: Canton Public School District
我校參觀考察的第三站是Canton學區幾所優質學校。學區教育局長Kevin先生全程陪同，并詳細介紹了每間學校的特色。
The third destination was Canton public school district. The Education Bureau Director Mr. Kevin made an explicit introduction to the features of each school.

巧合的是，Canton高小墻面上也出現了這么一句話：Education for life.（教育為一生奠基。）這與我校的教育使命不謀而合。
Coincidentally, “Education for life” also appears on the wall of Canton Intermediate School, which is in line with our school mission.

Canton High School is the top ten schools of the city, having the title of US News & World Report Gold Medal Winner. The featured curriculums of Art and Sports are offered to the students, which have successfully sent numbers of talented students to top universities. General Principal Mr. David Li and Mr. Kevin, Superintendent of Canton School District had a cordial exchange, focusing on the exchange in Art and Sports between two schools and international competitions. They also reached agreement on the exchange program for primary and middle school teachers.

Destination 4: Yale University
著名的耶魯大學也位于此行考察的康涅狄格州Yale University is located in Connecticut which is one of the SCFLS delegation's destinations.
康涅狄格州，美國東北部新英格蘭地區6個州之一，是美國最富有的州之一。根據最新數據，康州是美國人均收入最高的州。州內還有著名的耶魯大學，兩小時車程內可以到達紐約、波士頓、普林斯頓。2018年康州正式成為禁槍三大州之一。
Connecticut, one of the six states in New England, northeast of the U.S., is also one of the most affluent states in the U.S. According to the recent statistics, Connecticut has the highest per capita income in the U.S. World-famous universities such as Yale University is located in Connecticut. Within two hours of drive, we can reach to New York, Boston, and Princeton. In 2018, Connecticut officially became one of the three states to ban guns.

Our fourth destination was Yale University, a world-renowned university located in New Haven, Connecticut, U.S. Yale University is one of the 14 founding members of the American Association of Universities, and also the member of Ivy League, sharing the title with Harvard University and Princeton University. In addition, 5 U.S. presidents including Bill Clinton, George Bush, 19 Supreme Court Justices and 16 billionaires graduated from Yale University.

Destination 5: The United States Military Academy
西點軍校的校訓是“責任、榮譽、國家”
The motto of West Point Military Academy is "Duty, Honor, Country."
美國行程的最后一站，我們參觀了西點軍校。西點軍校，又稱為美國陸軍軍官學院（The United States Military Academy），是美國第一所軍事學校，位于紐約州西點。西點軍校的校訓是“責任、榮譽、國家”。
Our last destination in the US was Military Academy, AKA West Point, which is a military school located at West Point, State of New York. “Duty · Honor · Country “is its motto.
